Minneapolis Man Returns Presidents Wallet

KENNEBUNKPORT, ME —

While shopping at the local LL Bean Factory Outlet Store, vacationer David O’Brien found more than a good deal on a “cobble crew polo shirt” - he found a wallet.

“I looked at the license and I thought is was a joke.  The name on it was George Herbert Walker Bush”.  Apparently during a trip to purchase a “comfort-weave” sweater vest, the 78 year old former President of the United States dropped his wallet in one of the changing rooms.

“It strengthens my convictions that the moral fabric of our great  and vibrant democracy is still strong - that this good and honest citizen would return my wallet to me”.

The Bushs’ invited Mr. O’Brien to the Kennebunkport Family Compound for an afternoon of sailing and dinner afterwards.  President Bush insisted on giving a reward check in the amount $15 for the return of the wallet, which the clearly embarrassed Mr. O’Brien accepted.

“I believe a good deed should be rewarded, I’m just sorry I didn’t have any cash to give him”.

It is still unclear what became of the $720 cash that was in the wallet at the time it was lost.
